Save the date(s) as we celebrate the arts in Kittery! The Arts Festival will showcase live music, theatrical performances, art workshops, dance performances and so much more.
Events will be scheduled every Thursday and take place throughout town at the Kittery Community Center, Fort Foster, John Paul Jones Park, and the Kittery Foreside.
The Kittery Arts Festival is sponsored by Kennebunk Savings.
Upcoming Events
Plein Air Painting with the Kittery Art Association
July 14, 2002 | 4 PM - 7 PM | Tower Pavilion at Fort Foster
Join the Kittery Art Association for an outdoor painting event at Fort Foster. Bill Paarlberg, along with other members of the Kittery Art Association will be plein air painting and interacting with viewers as they paint, discussing their mediums and individual processes. Look for the "ask me questions" pennants attached to their easels. Attendees are welcome to bring their own easels and art supplies to paint alongside the artists of the KAA.
Hands-on art projects will be available under the Pavilion for kids of all ages, so bring the whole family and let those imaginations fly!
Music will be provided by Sea Smoke from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM, and the Stairwells from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
The Plein Air Painting event is FREE to the public. Please note that there is a $20 admission fee to enter Fort Foster for those without season passes. For more information about Fort Foster, please click here.

"What is Magic" Show & Workshop - Presented by Sages Entertainment

Magic is a performance art that has been an important part of entertainment for hundreds of years. During Sages Entertainment’s What is Magic show and workshop you will learn some of the ancient secrets of magic. Magicians are creative individuals who use things around them like science, technology, engineering, art, and math to create amazing feats of illusion. Learn some fun effects that are perfect for sharing with family and friends, a little bit about the history of magic as an art form, and how things work in this fun family-friendly show.
Participants will get a top-secret file folder and some of the supplies needed to recreate moments from the show at home!

Seacoast West African Dance & Drum

Enjoy an evening of West African drumming and dance performances with the Seacoast West African Dance & Drum, hosted by the Dance Hall.
Renowned djembefola, Namory Keita, originally from Sangbaralla, Guinea in West Africa and native New Englander, Liz Fowler, have teamed up for the past eight years with Seacoast West African Dance and Drum.
Namory was the lead drummer in his village of Sangbaralla, Guinea before relocating to New England more than eight years ago. He’s a master of traditional (or village style) drum from Guinea which he continues to share throughout North America and around the world through workshops, residencies, and performances. He’s a member of Theo Martey’s Akwaaba Ensemble, sharing drum and dance from both Ghana and Guinea. He now lives in Portland, ME, where he leads accompaniment for dance taught by Marita Kennedy-Castro and together they formed the New Moon Ensemble. Liz has studied dances from Guinea, West Africa since 1995, after first being introduced to West African Dance as an undergraduate at Connecticut College. She’s traveled to Guinea five times to dance and to learn more about many parts of the culture. Here in the US, she has studied with several Guinean dance teachers including Youssouf Koumbassa.

Cabaret Variety Show - Presented by the Seacoast Repertory Theatre

Join the Seacoast Repertory Theatre for an uplifting evening of live entertainment that will be fun for the whole family with some of the most talented teens from around the Seacoast.
Students from Seacoast Repertory Theatre's Portsmouth Academy of Performing Arts will delight the audience with a Cabaret Variety Show; which will include a special "sneak peak" performance by Seacoast Repertory Theatre's cast of "Rent", Jonathan Larson’s 90’s bohemian rock revelation which opens at the Seacoast Repertory Theatre on July 28th.
Performers will be singing and dancing from genres from jazz, to Broadway, to rock, & beyond. All bets are off as to what will be performed! It is bound to be a lively evening of wonderful musical surprises.

Let's Get Creative - A Make & Take Art Event

The best way celebrate art is to create some! Join the Kittery Arts Festival for a Make and Take Art Event at the Kittery Community Center.
We'll have art kits that include nautical and sea creature wood cutouts, paint, a paint brush and string so you can let your imaginations run wild! Create your masterpiece at the Community Center from 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM, or pick-up a kit to make at home.
This event is FREE and kits will be available until supplies run out. We'll see you Thursday for a fun evening of artistic expression!
